Who We Are

A home for compassion in the heart of Kottawa

Founded in 2017, Ti-Ratana Community Centre carries the spirit of the global Ti-Ratana family to Sri Lanka — serving youth, families and elders without distinction of faith, caste or means.

Our Story

A journey of compassion since 2017

Ti-Ratana Community Centre was established in 2017 under the inspiration of Most Ven. Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana Nayaka Maha Thera, the Buddhist Chief High Priest of Malaysia, whose lifelong work has lifted thousands out of hardship.

What began as a modest effort to support local children has grown into a thriving centre offering free education, vocational training, meditation, community relief and a welcoming venue for gatherings — all powered by volunteers and the generosity of well-wishers.

Today the centre stands as a beacon in the Kottawa community: a place where the timeless teachings of the Buddha meet the practical needs of everyday people.

A Living Community

A doorway open to all

From a morning study circle to an evening Dhamma sermon, the centre welcomes everyone without distinction of faith, caste or means. All who come through our doors are received as members of one family.

Youth, parents and elders come together to learn, to meditate and to serve — here, compassion is made a living, breathing practice.

Our Heart

The Buddha taught that the greatest wealth is a generous heart. Here in Kottawa we put that teaching into practice — without distinction of faith, caste or means.

Compassion (karuṇā), generosity (dāna), wisdom (paññā) and community (sangha) — these Buddhist values root everything we do.

Values We Live By

The principles that guide our service

Compassion (Karuṇā)

We meet suffering with kindness and act to relieve it, near and far.

Generosity (Dāna)

Our programmes are gifts — freely given, with no one turned away.

Wisdom (Paññā)

We empower through learning, mindfulness and honest reflection.

Community (Sangha)

We grow stronger together — across faiths, ages and backgrounds.
